Rheumatic heart disease among adults in a mining community of Papua, Indonesia: findings from an occupational cohort
Rheumatic heart disease (RHD) remains a significant cause of cardiovascular morbidity and mortality in developing countries such as Indonesia. Yet, despite being one of the most readily preventable chronic diseases, RHD has received scant research or policy attention, particularly in South-East Asia.
Interactive clinical cases
Heart Asia will be publishing a series of interactive clinical cases on its new blog to objectively explore variations in clinical practice in developing countries. Two different expert opinions will be presented and readers will be encouraged to vote on their preferred clinical approach and add comments. The first case is on mitral valve disease - should the patient receive a mechanical or a tissue valve?
The journal welcomes manuscripts with a focus on the Asia Pacific or other developing regions of the world. Original research, reviews, viewpoints and images are all welcomed.
